Mobile Phone Recycling

SUFFOLK MOBILE PHONE RECYCLING PROJECT image Recycle a mobile phone, raise money for Suffolk’s Schools and help protect the environment. Why is it important to recycle mobile phones? * Mobile phones will take about 1,000 years to decompose in landfill sites. * Recycling reduces pollution and conserves resources. * Working handsets help communications in developing countries where new phones would be unaffordable. How can I recycle my mobile? * Sort It At School Recycle Your Mobile envelopes are available through local schools and libraries across the county. * Write the name of the school you would like to support on the envelope, put the phone inside and seal it. * Send it to the Freepost address on the envelope. What happens to the phones?image * This scheme is a fantastic way to help the environment and raise funds for your school. * Working handsets are sold into developing countries to help with their communications. Component parts are used to repair phones. Plastics are granulated into pellets and reused for road sleepers and other plastic products. What does “Recyclable Phone” mean? * Every handset that is sent in and is re-useable will receive £5.00. * Approximately 50% of handsets received are re-useable. This means that for every single handset received, the nominated school will receive a minimum of £2.50. * If the majority of phones are reusable they will get more. How does my nominated school receive the money?image * Payments will be calculated on the number of phones received and made termly to the schools.
