New stylish bins have been installed along Tavern Street for cigarette butts and gum. The new double units have been installed as a trial to encourage visitors to dispose of the butts and gum correctly. They are constructed from a durable cast iron with a stainless steel front and removable liner. A really smart bin for a really smart town the new "smartbins" are an innovative new design and have recently received an award for their stylish and functional design. Several of the London boroughs have incorporated these bins into their streetscene. Ipswich is leading the way for the eastern counties, being one of the first local councils to install these attactive new bins.
