  • Changes to Brome Household Waste Recycling Centre
    Tuesday 24 June 2008
    Applies to: County Wide

Suffolk County Council has made changes to the way customers use Brome Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC), due to safety concerns outside the centre. From today (Tuesday 24 June) site users will not be able to park their vehicles outside the site entrance and walk their waste in to the centre. Users will now have to queue to enter the site by their car. Cllr Eddy Alcock, portfolio holder for environment and waste management said; "We have had a number of near misses outside the site with people walking across the access roads to the nearby industrial estate and not seeing lorries that have been travelling down the access road. It is our responsibility to ensure that visitors to the site have a safe environment to use the facilities that the county council has to offer". The centre has had some minor layout changes to create some extra space to allow more vehicle access. Also to accommodate this change the re-sale area has been removed. Items that are re-usable can be taken to charity shops or even placed on the free website: www.freecycle.co.uk When using the Brome Household Waste Recycling Centre the public are asked to be aware that there will be some queuing at busy times and to follow the instructions of the site staff. Suffolk County Council provides 18 Household Waste Recycling Centres across the county that are open from 8.00am - 6.00pm, seven days a week.
