Foxhall Re-use shop to reopen

Suffolk County Council, FCC Environment and The Benjamin Foundation are delighted to announce that the Re-use shop at the Foxhall Recycling Centre will be reopening on 15th June.

This is part of a phased reopening of re-use and recycling services and it also means you can now donate items for re-use at all of Suffolk’s 11 Recycling Centres however you will still need to book an appointment.

This is part of a phased reopening of re-use and recycling services and it also means you can now donate items for re-use at all of Suffolk’s 11 Recycling Centres however you will still need to book an appointment.

There are a number of things in place for you to consider before visiting including some temporary changes to the opening times:

  • The Foxhall shop will be open 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday
  • A number of measures will be in place for the safety of yourselves and our staff:
    • Numbers of people allowed within the shop will be limited
    • 2 metre social distancing must be maintained
    • A one-way system will be in place
    • Hand sanitising facilities will be available
    • Payment by card is encouraged
  • We will not be accepting direct donations at the current time as items will be subject to a period of quarantine, in line with guidelines, prior to being sold in the shop.
  • You can visit the Foxhall Re-use Shop without a booking, however you will not be able to access the recycling centre and must park in the shop car park.

The re-use shops at Foxhall and Bury St Edmunds Recycling Centres were closed in March following the lockdown announcement but as restrictions loosen the shop can re-open.

Plans are now also underway to re-open the shop at the Bury St Edmunds Recycling Centre, please watch for further updates.

Cllr Paul West, Cabinet Member for waste at Suffolk County Council said:

"We are delighted to be re-opening the re-use shop at Foxhall as part of our phased approach to bringing our Recycling Centre service back.  This now means people can donate their items for re-use once again at the Recycling Centres and enjoy buying items back.  The social distancing measures that are in place will mean people can use the shop safely."

“By purchasing items from our re-use shop you are not only extending the life and use of the items instead of throwing them away, you are supporting local charities who undertake vital and critical work in the county of Suffolk.”

The re-use shops at Foxhall and Bury a part of a partnership between Suffolk County Council, its waste and recycling partner FCC Environment and charity partner The Benjamin Foundation. The shops were opened with the aim of reducing waste and increasing recycling in the county as well as raising vital funds for those in need.
