Pledge for the Planet Recycling Project
***We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Pledge for the Planet Recycling project is Castle East Primary School. Congratulations! Thank you and well done to all the schools for taking part.***
We asked schools and groups to make a fabulous display of pledges for the planet using recycled materials.
With COP26 taking place earlier this year, we invited schools and groups to take this opportunity to think about what we can all do to help reduce carbon emissions and our impact on the planet. Reducing, reusing and recycling is a great way to show how every little action adds up to a lot.
The following schools and groups have taken part:
Castle EAST Primary School
‘We have been working very hard to create our recycled planet art project. The children really enjoyed taking part in the creating of the display and thought hard about what their personal pledges to the planet could be. They shared some really thoughtful ideas about how to protect the environment and we had many discussions around Cop26. Our Kitchen Garden club worked especially hard to finish off the project’
‘Our Christmas tree this year is made from recycled cardboard boxes and a member of staff wrote the poem to share with parents and the children. The children have made all the decorations from recycled materials. The Children at Highfield are all ages 2,3 and 4 and we are all proud of their display.’
St Josephs College
‘The Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children had a wonderful time making their pledge for the planet art. Thank you for inviting us to take part.’
The Oaks Primary School ( Caterpillar Nursery Class )
‘We had great fun sticking the pieces on and we talked about our world and what we can do to look after it. ‘
Thomas Gainsborough School
‘We focused on making Christmas decorations out of recycled materials which in turn connects to reducing our waste in the world and climate change.’
We will add more as the entries come in ...!
All schools and groups will be entered into a draw to win a £100 gardening voucher! We will be announcing the lucky winner soon!
